One Woman Chronicles Her Journey of Learning to Trust God

When Life Doesn't Turn Out as Expected

Emuclaw, Washington - With the U.S. fertility rate at its lowest point in more than a hundred years, many women experience disappointment when hoping to start a family. About 10 percent of women ages 15-44 had difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a child to term in 2016, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). When medical efforts fail and prayers are not answered, this can cause a crisis of faith.

In Faithful: An Unexpected Journey to Motherhood (Redemption Press, May 2017), blogger Becky Graham candidly chronicles her journey of walking through the challenges of infertility and the medical path treatments took her on, as well as the toll of the stress of infertility can take on a marriage, thoughts, and emotions. After her doctor said, "I don't know if you will ever be able to conceive a child," her dreams, plans and optimism were shattered. "Deep disappointment set in my soul, but by keeping my faith in God, along with maintaining emotional and spiritual stability, God proved His faithfulness to me."

Through perseverance and trusting God to "write her story," Graham embraced the grief that came with the loss of a dream, overcame her fears, and learned to trust God for the outcome. She writes to encourage those who need hope when facing detours in life that threaten their trust in God.

Therapist and author Brenda L. Yoder says, "Becky shares the painful journey of unmet expectations and the broken dreams of infertility. As a therapist, I appreciate Becky's honesty and vulnerability at the debilitating side of clinical depression and the commitment to personal health despite grief and loss. Her journey with God reminds the reader that His Plan is good in His time."

Becky Graham is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Recently relocated from Illinois to Florida, she writes with humor on what God is currently teaching her on her blog at www.SmallTownGirlBG.com.
